Max’s Trip to Los Angeles

Max has always been a huge sports fan, so it was no surprise that his dream involved his favorite professional teams and athletes.  Suffering from a progressive terminal illness called ALD (Adrenoleukodystrophy), Max has lost his hearing, has trouble with his coordination and is losing his sight.  So, The Dream Factory of Greater Kansas City (with a little help from our Southern California chapter) acted quickly to send Max and his family to California to attend a L.A. Lakers basketball game and a San Diego Chargers football game. Max met many different players, including Kobe Bryant and Drew Brees, received autographed jerseys, and enjoyed first class treatment!

A woman who met Max while he was on the sidelines of the Chargers game wrote, “The smile on Max's face will forever be etched in my mind. I only wish that Max could have seen his name flash across the scoreboard saying, Welcome to Max. I'm certain that Max knew that this was his special day. The sparkle in his eyes as he looked up at his dad, giving him the thumbs-up, said it all.”
